IM Injections for Wellness: What They Are and How They Work
If you've looked into IV therapy and thought "that feels like more than I need right now," intramuscular injections might be exactly what you're looking for. They're faster, simpler, more affordable, and for certain nutrients, just as effective at getting what you need into circulation.
Here's a straightforward breakdown of what IM injections actually involve and why they're worth considering.

What an IM Injection Actually Is
Intramuscular injection delivers a substance directly into muscle tissue rather than into a vein or through the digestive system. Muscle tissue has a rich blood supply, which means absorption is reliable and reasonably rapid without the need for IV access.
The procedure takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes from arrival to finish. Your nurse selects an appropriate injection site, typically the deltoid or gluteus, depending on the substance and volume, cleans the area, and administers the injection. That's it. No drip, no IV line, no extended monitoring time.
For clients with busy schedules, needle sensitivity around IV access, or those who want regular maintenance support without the time or cost commitment of a full infusion, IM injections are a practical and clinically sound option.

Why Not Just Take Oral Supplements?
Fair question. For many people, oral supplementation works perfectly well. But there are situations where it doesn't.
Oral nutrients have to survive your digestive system before reaching circulation. How much actually gets through depends on your gut health, the supplement's form, what else you've eaten, and a range of individual factors that vary considerably among people. For nutrients with notoriously poor oral bioavailability, or for clients with absorption concerns, digestive conditions, or dietary restrictions that affect intake, intramuscular delivery bypasses all of that entirely.
Nobody outside of a nursing or pharmacy classroom wants to hear the word pharmacokinetics. The short version is this: skip the digestive system entirely, and what you put in actually gets where it's going, at the concentration you intended.

What We Offer as IM Injections
At Hyndford Hydration, our IM menu currently includes:
Vital Boost (B12) for clients wanting direct B12 replenishment. Particularly practical for those with dietary restrictions, absorption concerns, or anyone who hasn't responded well to oral B12 supplementation. B12 plays a documented role in red blood cell formation, nerve function, and energy metabolism.
Vitality Blend (B-Complex) for clients who want the full B vitamin spectrum delivered intramuscularly. B vitamins are essential cofactors across dozens of metabolic pathways and are commonly depleted in people with demanding schedules or high stress loads.
Immune Boost (Vitamin D3) for clients with confirmed or suspected Vitamin D deficiency, or those wanting to maintain adequate levels through the darker months without daily oral dosing. Vitamin D deficiency is genuinely common in British Columbia. Recent bloodwork or an NP appointment within the last three months is required before this one.
Cell Glow (Glutathione) for clients wanting antioxidant support without committing to a full IV session. A practical standalone option or a cost-effective add-on during an IV visit.
Standalone vs. Add-On
IM injections are available as standalone sessions from $90 or added during an IV visit for $45. If you're already receiving an infusion, adding an IM injection at the same visit is the most efficient and cost-effective way to combine the two.
What to Expect
Minor soreness at the injection site for a day or two is normal and usually unremarkable. Serious complications are rare and are further minimized by proper technique, sterile equipment, and appropriate client screening, all of which are standard at every Hyndford Hydration visit.
Every IM session includes a pre-treatment check to confirm there are no changes to your health status and that you're well enough to proceed. All treatments are administered under a valid BC medical directive.
IM therapy is supportive in nature. We don't diagnose or treat medical conditions, and we won't claim to.
